My husband and I found out about a vegetarian pop-up here (with an Asian flair) called TSAI. It's pretty new- I believe they were at the Dragon's Den for a few weeks before it closed for its summer vacation and they've been to two uptown locations these past 2 weekends. Last week they did a noodle party at someone's gorgeous uptown house, where everyone brought their own bowls. It was a hoot. (you can read about it in greater detail here: http://norainnola.blogspot.com/2011/0...)

This weekend they set up in the Bridge Lounge doing rice bowls - choice of black bean-shiitake sauce or Thai red curry sauce with complementing accoutrements. The black bean came with a delicious fried tofu-fresh lima bean mix, and both bowls came with various pickled veggies. It was really delicious- the black bean/mushroom especially was just so flavorful and umami-esque.

The also did homemade oversized citrus-anise fortune cookies - with kinda crazy fortunes, (my husband's was a lyric from a Decemberists song, heh.) Very yummy though!

Anyway, in a city with a dearth of vegetarian/vegan options, I think it's great that these folks have harnessed the pop-up trend in town and are trying to make a go of it. Their Facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/tsainola, if you or anyone you know are interested in seeking out fun and innovative and bold vegetarian food- just keep an eye on their page to see where they pop-up next.

I will say that the Bridge Lounge was a lot of fun too because of being able to indulge in their signature mojitos! (BTW, they had a giant projector for the Saints pre-season game, in case anyone was looking for a new place to check out games in the area.)
