As an Indian-American I'm happy to say that I have found a restaurant that fulfills my need of Indian comfort food! I'm not talking about the same old Punjabi-Mughal-North Indian tandoori and what not that no one in India eats at home... But rather of the delicate flavors of vegetarian South Indian cooking. This place is called Annapoorna, and it's located on El Camino Real between 20th and 25th Aves. in San Mateo.

Trust me when I say this place is a find!!! They are open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. And the place is always chock full of Indians... The food is exquisite. The dosas are crisp/tender and flavorful, as are the uttapam, and the vadas...

But by far the best thing on the menu is the Special Thali plate. This comes with 4-5 curries of the day, yogurt, chappati, rice and papad. And it's unbelieveably good!
