Commander’s Palace Brunch Sunday
Arrived in LV just in time for our noon brunch reservation at Commander’s Palace. We opted for the prix fix meal which starts you out with either Mimosas, Bloody Marys or Champagne. I chose the Bloody Mary which came garnished with a green olive and cherry pepper but without the vodka. The vodka of my choice then arrived served in ice (I first had to make room in the drink for the vodka). My S.O. had a screwdriver (freshly squeezed orange juice with the vodka of his choice). Note to Chowhound’s -- if you wear a hat (no baseball caps) to the brunch, you get 2 drinks free. We both ordered the seafood gumbo (shrimp, oysters and okra) delicious with just the right texture and spices. I then ordered the eggs sardou but with an extra side of crusted crispy fried oysters. They were fried just right and added a wonderful flavor and texture to my eggs. S.O. order Eggs Cochon de lait which was pulled cajun pork spiced with some heat and juicy and tender. This was served with fried thin strips of potatoes. Dessert was crème brulee and a huge slice of opera cake which could have served several people. Very yummy. Service was excellent, a jazz band played and Sunday afternoon in LV was very good!

Rosemarys Lunch Monday
Found Rosemarys without a problem for our noon reservation. The restaurant was bigger than I expected but decorated very nicely with a variety of paintings. Our waiter was Rudy who says he has been there from the start of the restaurant. He provided excellent service and was extremely professional. Service by everyone in the restaurant was just excellent. We both chose the prix fix lunch and what an absolute bargain. I chose the wedge of lettuce that came with crumbled bacon and hard boiled egg along with maytag blue cheese dressing.. The table next to us had just ordered the same thing and I tried unobtrusively to observe his reaction. In fact, the same table were so into their food, that it was hard not to witness their reactions which were all just as favorable to the food as were ours. The wedge of lettuce was quite large and very tasty. The nuts added a nice crunch. My S.O. had the BBQ shrimp with slaw and he enjoyed every bite. Very good. S.O. ordered the Mahi Mahi which came on a bed of julienne vegetables. I ordered the grilled salmon which was served on a bed of slaw. Both fish entrees were moist, not overcooked and just delicious. We were doing well on our second food binge day. Dessert was an apple tart and I chose the goat cheesecake which was incredibly delicious. The only thing I would have liked different was more time between serving the entrée and dessert. This will be one of my favorite restaurants along with Commander’s Palace and Fix in L.V. and Brigtsens in N.O. My S.O. wanted to return 2 days later but we had reservations elsewhere.
