veg meal at buzkashi

peanut butter | Apr 22, 2004 09:20 AM

The potato and chickpea salad was quite pedestrian. I dumped my bread sauce onto it to give it some more kick. There was also a good amount of water floating around on the plate.

We ordered the Special plate which was a composed of 2 pumpkin discs, a thin slice of eggplant, mushy okra, spinach, and rice. The kaddo was undercooked and sort of tasteless. My SO ordered the cauliflower and turnips. It came out as a large piece of steamed cauliflower, about 5 small chunks of really yummy sweet turnip, and rice.

The table layout is strange. We were the only 2 people in there for a bit and the server had to squeeze in and out to do her thing. Each time the door opens there's a fair draft. In addition the restaurant has no bustle or music, and you can really hear everyone's conversation. These are all pretty easy things to fix though.

We really wanted to like this place, but it just wasn't satisfying at all. It was also hard not to compare to Helmand. Can't say that I'll go back.

Interesting note: Buzkashi is an Aghan game where men on horses compete for control of a dead goat.
