Hey Vancouverites! I'm doing a little bit of Canadian pizza research from afar (Halifax) and I was hoping you guys could answer a few questions for me. Please note that I'm not interested in Neapolitan style pizza, but a pizza style/culture that could be said to be unique to Vancouver.
I hear mixed things about Vancouver's pizza scene - I've heard good things, but mostly that Vancouver isn't a pizza city, despite the popularity of slices.
How would you describe the "style" of pizza in Vancouver?
What are the most well known pizza shops/institutions?
What other items do pizza shops typically sell? Breadsticks? Shawarma? Wings? Subs? Etc.
What's with the blue cheese and ground beef pizza I was served on Commercial/Broadway?
Is it true that many pizza shops in Van are East Indian owned? Is Indian-pizza a thing? I recall eating butter chicken pizza at a place called Camy's...
Sorry for all the questions, but Vancouver's pizza scene is somewhat elusive to me and I need to begin somewhere. Thanks!
