My husband and I are trying to figure out where to go for Valentine's Day. We don't get out to dinner alone much, so just sitting there without a 4 year already feels pretty romantic, but I'd like to find someplace nice.
We tend to go for French (country or bistro), Italian or new/seasonal American for special occasions. It doesn't have to be the sexiest, most romantic restaurant ever, but wonderful food and some nice atmosphere within a reasonable (30 min?) distance of Rye Brook would be lovely.
We've really enjoyed Cafe de la Gare in (I think) Hastings. I thought Blue Hill was mostly terrific, but it doesn't feel warm and romantic. La Panetiere or Jean Louis would, I think, be too fancy or formal, in terms of both food and atmosphere. I'd sort of like to try RK in Rye, but it doesn't seem like the right atmosphere and I've heard mixed reviews of the service. We've never tried a Peter Kelly restaurant and I'd love to, but I think Xavier's might also be too formal. Restaurant X? Husband wasn't wild about Iron Horse Grill (frankly, I think he's waiting for some stunning food epiphany that's never going to happen). Le Provence in Mamaroneck?
