Sounds like an oxymoron to me if I ever heard one. But I'm sitting there tonight watching the news on KNSD 7/39 and they're doing a piece on the remodel of the downtown (SD) McD to "capture" an "under-served segment" of the downtown population. Namely the business folk that inhabit the many office towers and buildings around their location. Which incidentally is right next door to the KNSD studio.
Gone are the garish plastic tables and chairs in colors only a pre-schooler could really love. In are sofas upholstered with real fabric in vibrant adult colors. There's even a $60,000+ grand piano for a musical interlude. A separate room for conferences or luncheon meetings has been carved out of the dining room, separated by an iron gate. The menu remains the same with some enhancements. But their grand opening to introduce the new look had a pretty interesting looking buffet, complete with ice carvings, silver coffee urns and very un-McDonald's looking food.
According to the news report this is only the 2nd unit system-wide to receive this type of make-over. I don't know, ya'll think we're ready for this?!?!?
