Help with my unruly spice containers & condiment bottles

cstout | Sep 24, 2015 03:15 PM

I have a ton of spices that are driving me crazy. I am looking at squatty tin boxes, tall glass jars, cardboard containers & hard plastic bottles. Oh yes, even some in plastic packets from the bulk bins & some homemade spice blends stuck in pimento jars. All of this unruliness goes against my sense of organization.

I would love a bunch of same size glass bottles to store & label everything, but this would cost a small fortune. On top of all that my kitchen is tiny & all these containers are taking up a lot of real estate. At one point I thought of buying a bunch of 1 pint freezer bags & storing them in a container in the freezer, leaving out the most common ones I use daily. But some of my special spices would get lost in those bags since I only buy a few tablespoons of those at a time. Please don't mention spice racks, I would need too many & no way to hang on ceramic tile walls.

Also, there are many bottles of marinades oils & other liquids. Right now they are housed in 2 plastic shoe boxes & that is bad because the box lid will not close due to the taller bottles. More real estate hogging & ugly to boot.

Please help me restore harmony in my tiny abode.

Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
