Unpleasant Incident at Miraku, Walnut Creek

I just had a truly unpleasant incident at Miraku, in Walnut Creek.

It took forever to get our order taken but we just wanted a simple dinner with some good sake. The sake the waitress eventually brought was excellent but when we received the bill, the sake cost more than the one we had originally ordered.

Since it was taking far too long for the waitress to return and pick up the credit card at the end of our adequate but not outstanding meal anyway, we went to the front desk to correct the "sake" error and pay the bill.

After ignoring us further at the front desk, the waitress started to argue about which sake we had ordered and rant about the premium sake she had served us, of which "only 20 cases were available in the U.S."

Well, it was fantastic - I wish I had written down the name!

The manager came over and fixed our bill and attempted to smooth things over. The waitress continued to raise her voice and glare at us.

I've never experienced hostility like this at a relatively upscale restaurant. Actually, if the waitress had been gracious and attentive and explained the situation, I would have just been amused and paid for the "special" sake.

Thank you, Chowhounders, for allowing me to vent. Do you think this kind of situation could be one of the reasons Miraku closed in Lafayette?
