I'm taking the mom on out Saturday (March 8th) for Women's Day. I'm looking for a cozy, neighbourhood-y spot with good food, a relaxed atmosphere, and mains in the $30ish range. I'm not looking to blow it out at Scaramouche (not that she isn't worth it).
Mom's favourite casual spot is the Universal Grill, so something-like would be great. Bonus points for something relatively close to Yonge and Bloor (I mean a 20 minutes walk or 10 minute train). Mom is good with funky, less good with stuffy. And despite the granola-y feel of the whole "woman's day" thing, super-bonus points for kickass cocktails (Universal actually mixes great lychee martinis!).
