To celebrate a birthday.
Food: appetizer was porcini gnocchi (me) and raviolini w/ricotta, mint, braised bibb lettuce, and mushrooms (bf). Both of these were actually wonderful--very pillowy, and the mint in the raviolini added an interesting, but not overbearing flavor.
main courses were scallops (me) and tuna filet mignon (bf). The scallops were very good, but the pairing with the acorn squash was pretty ho-hum and the spicey mustard sauce accompanying the whole thing didn't really seem to go with the squash puree. I've had better scallops (at Little Giant last weekend, for example). The tuna was a bit dry and salty. The wasabi mashed potatoes and stir fry it came w/wasn't anything exciting. But, my bf the tuna fan was happy, so perhaps it's a matter of taste.
dessert was bourbon bread pudding (me) and peanut butter cup (bf). The bread pudding was more of a cake than a bread pudding. That said, it was very good. The peanut butter cup was uninteresting and too frozen, making it hard to eat.
Service was, of course, helpful and gracious. Except for one more-than-minor slip-up when the b-day boy's dessert was brought out w/"Happy Birthday David!" around the rim of the plate. My bf's name isn't David, and I had told the reservationist his real name during the confirmation call the day before. Oops. We didn't say anything at the time, but I have since left a message w/the restaurant manager.
So, overall, the evening was pleasant, and I liked all the food that I tasted, but I've had a lot better food for a lower price. I won't rush back.
