I had the BEST lunch today that I can recall in a long time. I know it is on Kester and I believe at the corner of Calvert (a few blocks North of Oxnard). It is a store with a mini restaurant in the back. There is a very small menu on the wall but if you are nosey like me, you can look in the containers on the steam table and see what they really have. All tacos are $1.25, have 2 tortillas and are loaded to the max. They also have Tortas and Coctels and even Mojarra Frita. I ordered Lengua, Al Pastor, Chicharrones and Chorizo and Potato tacos. Each one was excellent. Lengua was tender and luscious, Al Pastor was sturdier and dryer but flavorful, Chicharrones were cut shreds from the fried skin and were sinfully crunchy and not the least bit stringy, Chorizo was not really oily and lots of its flavor was imparted to the potato. I thought I couldn't eat another bite but on the way out there is a plastic case next to the cash register with various sweets in it. One was a 5" diameter circle, 1/8" thick of Dulce de Leche with a paper thin coating over it so that it won't be a sticky mess. I thought I would just eat a couple of bites because I was so full but it just sort of vanished in short order. It is on the South West corner. I wish I could be more specific. If you are at Oxnard and Kester and go North, it is only a few blocks up. Really worth the trip if you are anywhere near there at all. This is the real deal for sure.
