AUSTIN RESTAURANT UCHI ANNOUNCES DETAILS ON NEW RESTAURANT, "UCHIKO"
Slated to open Spring/Summer 2010, Uchiko will offer the best of the original with a few exciting changes
Austin, TX-The owners of Uchi announced today the long-awaited location of their second restaurant to be named, "Uchiko" (loosely translated to mean "child of Uchi") in the Spring/Summer 2010. Uchiko will occupy a portion of the space formerly known as the Seton Hospital Office Building at 4200 N. Lamar.
"After 6 years of service in south Austin, Uchi is ready to grow”, comments owner and executive chef Tyson Cole. "I've spent the past few years diligently working to make Uchi what it is today. Our dedicated staff and loyal clientele have made the decision to open another space an easy one. Uchiko is that new space."
Cole continues, "Uchiko will be Uchi in a new light. Identical to Uchi in almost every way, the new space will focus on a few changes that we would like to offer to our customers, but with the same incredible food and service."
Uchiko will be divided into two separate rooms. The first is a dining room for walk-in customers and the second room will be reservation-only seating. Both spaces will offer the same full Uchi menu and bar seating will be available in both rooms.
Located at the epicenter of several bustling central Austin neighborhoods, Uchiko will present an exciting new dining option for residents and visitors alike. Ample parking is also an exciting feature of the 4200 North Lamar location.
Noted designer, Michael Hsu, once again at the helm, is transforming an existing structure into the new space. Hsu notes, "Uchiko will be engaging without being showy. It will be carefully detailed and exude the welcoming, warm and comfortable feel of the original Uchi."
"We have had long wait times at Uchi since we opened in 2003," recalls business partner Daryl Kunik. "The timing was right to open a new location that allows us to serve more customers and meet the demand for reservations."
Chef Cole concludes by adding, "I personally am so excited and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for all of us at Uchi in Austin."
