I am coming to visit NOLA with my best friend who is getting married. will be there 11/1/18 to 11/4/18 Kind of like a bachelor party but for two foodies. I am looking for a special food experience and since I am not local I was hoping you guys can offer some suggestions. A few ideas I had are:
- somehow participating in a real homemade seafood boil. We don't have any friends in NOLA so perhaps there is a way to get this done through a restaurant or tour group (but I could not find any)
- having a private cooking lesson with a well known chef. Not only will the celebrity factor be interesting but if the chef is well known, they are probably real good cooks.
- having a private dinner at a top restaurant with the chef. Being able to chat about the food, the source, etc.
- Perhaps going to a local farm and having a family style farm to table experience there (they do that around me in PA once in a while).
Looking for something out of the ordinary that will leave a great memory. We have both been to NOLA about 6/7 years ago and plan on exploring some restaurants and music for sure. We are not Bourbon St sticky drunk tourist type of guys (nor are we stuck up). Will of course rent a car to get to destination if needed. Price is not a consideration (within reason of course, I won't be spending $1000s for one experience).
Thank you in advance for any suggestions that come this way.
