My husband and I stopped into By the Way Cafe on Victoria (main) Street on the start of our road trip. It was early and we were planning to stop for a coffee (for him) and see what else was on offer.

We ended up ordering their bagel breakfast sandwich. We chose the egg and cheese (can't remember what kind of cheese). The bagels were Montreal style and tasted chewy with a hint of sweetness. Excuse my memory as we've eaten every meal out for the last two weeks, however if I remember correctly they mentioned something about boiling the bagel in honey water before baking in a wood oven. We both loved them and will definitely be returning on our next drive through Tweed. When we did get to Montreal, I found this place to really taste like the bagels we had in Montreal.
My husband had coffee and says it was very, very good. He prefers independant places, hates Tim Hortons and prefers strong coffee to give you a bit of his tatstes.

Below is a link that shows their menu and pics of the place.
