One of my new year's resolutions is to try three new meats this year--not just parts I haven't tried before, but actually animals I haven't tried before. After some discussions about definitions, figured out that kangaroo, gator and turtle would all be new and not freak out dinner companions (a consideration that ruled out the quest for guinea pig in Jackson Heights). I know Public in Manhattan does kangaroo. I'm assuming any good cajun place should do gator (but would be happy to hear recommendations for the best gator in NYC). But what I really need is a restaurant recommendation for a place that does turtle meat and does it well. By the way, I remember that about a decade ago there was a restaurant somewhere between 10th and 14th street in Manhattan that specialized in all kinds of game. I think it's closed now, but would love to be a) told I'm wrong, b) pointed in the direction of another restaurant that specializes in game and could provide easy answers to the NY resolution.
