Please help turn 'tart Montmorency DRIED cherries' into sour cherry pie.

When I saw the 20 oz. bag at Costco, memories of my original taste of Traverse City sour cherry pie flooded my senses and I had to buy it. As this will be the first test by a novice baker, I thought I'd use bought 9" shortbread crust and ask the collective mind suggest how to create the filling. No suggestions unappreciated!
