Turkish Restaurant in Sunnyside

Mike | Aug 23, 2001 04:41 PM

Just today, a new Turkish restaurant opened in Sunnyside. It is NAZAR TURKISH CUISINE, 42-03 Queens Blvd., right on the corner of 42nd St. and QB. It is a smallish place, simply decorated and seems to have an appealing menu. I was ready to go there tonight to try it, but in this hot and humid weather, opted to postpone it. There were 2 large air conditioners running but half of the space is in direct line with the very hot kitchen and so the place might be a bit intimidating (with very hot air coming from the kitchen) until the cooler weather comes.

But, those of you in the area might give it a try and we will look forward to a report on your critiques. Prices of the main courses, they call "From Mom's Kitchen," run from$8.95 (a veggie dish called Sebzeli Guvec)to $14,95 -- a whole striped bass -- with other dishes -- kebabs, chicken breast, marinated lamb, ground lamb, lamb shank, brook trout, etc. The staff were very nice when I went in for a menu and seem very anxious to please. You can bring your own beer and wine, although no wine glasses as yet.

Let us know your findings.
