There used to be a restaurant on East 59th Street called Hyotan Nippon. I believe their specialty was grilled foods. In addition to their regular tables, in the center of the room was an oddly-shaped dining counter and, in the middle of that, a grilling station. The cooks would present the grilled dishes to diners at the counter by placing them on what looked like pizza peels with very long handles and extending them across the counter. One of their appetizer and/or lunch dishes was tsukune - little ground chicken meatballs, grilled on skewers and then brushed with terikaki sauce.

Hyotan Nippon moved across town years ago, then dropped the "Hyotan" from their name and changed the menu. Anybody know where can I find tsukune these days?
