I had a yummy meal at Tryg's last week. I had been walking some distance in the bitter cold and decided to go check it out. They had a great fireplace going right in the entry area (not a gas one either!) Very
friendly server. I had a salad with arugula, bacon,
gorgonzola and some other good stuff. Excellent entree
of Star Prairie trout (warning, head still on it!) nice and crispy on the outside, with a lemon creme fraiche and some chili oil, sided by a delectable chunky avocado/mashed potato concoction with several slices of caramelized mango that had been blowtorched in some manner, excellent. The dessert, recommended by my server, was great- warm banana cake with a vanilla mascarpone filling, surrounded by just enough caramel sauce and tiny pieces of peanut brittle to make an ecstatic combination. My server said "I have to restrain myself from eating that dessert every day", and I understood why. I'd love to hear any other reports. I laughed to see they posted Ann Bauer's (MN Monthly) lukewarm review though....
I really appreciate that they use local and naturally raised meats- this is trendy but still shockingly rare
in too many restaurants that are high-priced enough to afford to use the naturally raised meats, which taste so much better in addition to being healthier...
