Tristan & Flanigans in Mallorca...

sandra | Sep 18, 2002 08:10 AM

While in Mallorca last weekend we decide to sample the Michelin stars available...

Tristan, 2 Michelins - very nice ambience, outdoor terrace under a big white tent with torches outside - great tasting menu - tuna sashimi, scallops wrapped in potato, crab and sole in a beurre blanc foam - all delicious and definitely worth it - what was not to our taste was the braised goat - but otherwise, highly recommended...the tasting wine menu was excellent as well. The service was outstanding, in 4 different languages...

Flanigans, 1 Michelin - much more casual and relaxed, the starters of ham croquettes and mozzarella salad with tomato-garlic rubbed bread were very nice and the grilled fish done to perfection, served with possibly the best fried potatoes I've had in a while... and a great apple tart to finish - the paella and black rice also looked very good at the table next to ours...

Both restaurants are in Portals Nous - a nice little port with loads of big yachts, and both are right on the port overlooking the water.

Will definitely be going back!
