calvin trillin, esteemed food writer and eater, has a new book called "feeding a yen" that has just been released. Chapter 6 is called "New Grub Streets" and is heavily focused on both professional and semi-professional food writers--including the alpha dog himself, jim leff.
the piece itself is fantastic. as is the rest of the book so far. trillin frequently writes for the new yorker and has published several other food writing books including one title "The Tummy Trilogy" which is a compilation of three earlier works. he is funny, willing to try most anything and very down to earth which are three admirable qualities so far as i'm concerned.
my only problem so far is that trillin makes me envious of nyc. i'm not one of those people who is always like, "oh new york is so much better than everywhere else." but i'd love to try some food from ghana. so far as i know there is no place in the twin cities for ghanian(is that even right?) grub.
