traveling kosher to montana and back report

my family (2 adults and 2 kids) recently drove to montana and back. here is what we found

chicago:
da nali. ordered onion soup, pasta and some other items. we found the soup too salty and the rest of the food inedible
shallots-had 2 sushi appetizers-they were ok but I find I really like simple sushi rolls not fancy shmancy sushi with sauces where you cannot taste the fish. had steaks and chicken breasts that were delicious
ken's diner-deli was great, good sandwiches. picked up food to eat on the road
breadsmith baskery-got delicios bread for shabbat and croutons
zeldas-picked up delicious hand decorated cookies and pareve chocolate cake
slice of life: went there on the way home 3x! onion soup was great-kids whosaid they hated onion soup ended up ordering it 2x! pizza was great. delicious quesadilla with fake meat.

bozeman, MT
bequet caramels. kosher under star-d delicious

found various kosher food (except meat) in supermarkets. there was no kosher certified bread past chicago. we did find kosher thomases bagels in butte, mt. We also found at the safeway in polson, kosher shitake risotto boxed mix as well as asian sauces by heavenly chef

of course, we bought graeters ice cream while in Ohio. it was so good, we bought dry ice and packed our cooler and the styrofoam carton we got when we had meat delivered from avi glatt (a+ on prices and quality) and loaded up with 30+ pints and 3 half gallons

highly recommend going to montana-it is beautifull. if you stay in bozeman there is a chabad and mikveh, the chabad rabbi and wife were away for shabbat-we came across the husband the following week at old faithful in yellowstone
