Traveling in Italy right now (August 2016)? You can help the earthquake relief by eating bucatini all'amatriciana

Michaelspont | Aug 24, 201603:31 PM

Some restaurants in Italy, right now mainly in Umbria, Lazio, Le Marche -- in areas close to Amatrice and other towns most distressed by the quake-- are offering bucatini all'amatriciana and donating 2 euros for every plate served to the relief efforts. Hoping the idea catches on throughout and that readers here who are or will shortly be in Italy will be willing to indulge in this delicious pasta in solidarity with those suffering. So keep an eye out for the dish, even if you are traveling in areas of Italy where it is not traditionally served. Sadly, I read that it was just this past weekend that the town of Amatrice held a big festa to celebrate a milestone anniversary of the creation of the dish -- which meant many extra people were in town to celebrate.
