Travelers: what unique ingredient should I buy as a souvenir and what recipe should I make with it?

For example, in Budapest I bought fresh paprika and back home used it to make delicious goulash. With everything available for import so easily it's hard to find unique things when I travel (I blog too). Going to Thailand next but interested in hearing about any country/region/state's unique (or significantly better/fresher) ingredients I can cook with back home.
