Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a dictionary specifically tailored for deciphering Chinese restaurant menus?
I see posts like the recent "Brief List of Eats", in which Limster describes ordering at "a crisp Teochew stir-fry (in Chinese on the back of the menu)" at Ho Yuen Ting. I wish I could do that, but am stuck with English-language menus, which obviously omit a lot of the kitchen's treasures.
I'd love to find the menu equivalent of the appendix of a book I own on Hong Kong action cinema, which maps English-language titles to the original Cantonese and Mandarin ones. I bring it with me to Chinatown video stores and point to what I want. Any help?
