I was in Capitola this last Saturday and decided to give the Train Place one more chance. I had been in there three times before and each time ordered their "famous" pastrami. The pastrami itself is alright, sort of similar to "The Hat" in So Cal. But, their bread was always lousy. I had tried the rye, sourdough, and wheat and it was all bad. The only option left was the sub roll, so that's what I got this time. And it turned out to be the best choice. The roll was fine. It was a bit unusual in that the roll had a very thin layer of interior bread, as if they scooped out most of the bread and just left the crust. But it worked and I don't need the carbs anyway. I might try another kind of sandwich sometime now that I know what kind of bread to order. If you are looking for pastrami in Santa Cruz County, the Train Place may be your best bet as long as you get it on the sub roll.
