We moved to Sac from San Francisco last year and have had trouble finding a 'traditional' sushi restaurant. Yes, most places have Nigiri but we also like rolls that havn't been 'Americanized' with a bunch of cooked fish etc. We especially detest whatever kinds of sauces Sacramento sushi restaurants seem to feel compelled to cover their delicious rolls with.
The first time we orded a 'spicy tuna roll' here we got a roll that was covered with some sort of pink, mayonnaise type, sauce that totally masked all the freshness of the fish. We've tried different restaurants, they all seem to use some version of this sauce and when we ask for no sauce our server seems horrified, more often than not it comes with the sauce. Can anyone help with a recommendation?
