The Townshend, Quincy

Pegmeister | Jun 23, 201511:48 AM

Quincy needs a restaurant that offers something a cut above. The basic pub grub or fried seafood options get old. When I saw that Townshend was open for lunch we decided to give it a try. First off, they have not yet posted a menu. Their website couldn't be more basic, showing just their hours.

We arrived at noontime to a very quiet restaurant with just a few people seated. The bartender showed us to a table and handed us a menu. I commented that I wasn't able to find any information on line about the menu and his response was "We'll get to it". Okay, I don't know, but I thought he was rude so I casually mentioned that maybe a sample menu would be good. That way people would have an idea what they serve. Not a great first impression.

I will say that though the waitress was quite pleasant and knowledgeable. DC ordered a burger with fries and I ordered the mushroom rissoto with grilled chicken. DC enjoyed the burger but didn't think it was anything special. I quite enjoyed the rissoto but thought it was odd the chicken was served on a side plate. Presentation would have been better with the chicken fanned on top of the rissoto. Desserts offered were just a few flavors of gelato as they are still tweaking the menu.

Would I go back, possibly. My feeling is they need to work out the kinks and attitude. It will be awhile.
