Toutatis - Crepery in Oakland

Han Lukito | Feb 23, 200307:43 PM

This place is small with 6 or so small tables. It was full house when I stepped in and had to wait 20 minutes for a table. When I did get seated, I had to wait like 35-45 minutes to get our orders. It was ridiculously long and a major drawback.

La Complete crepe is their most complete breakfast crepery with ham and cheeses. Their crepe is made of brown egg and whole wheat flour. Color is brown and has the appearance of very thin hashbrown. The crepe is folded on its sides and has the eggs, ham and cheese inside. The cheese was already somewhat cold when it arrived but the whole thing is acceptable. Nothing spectacular here. It was around $8 per order

We ordered another crepe with chunks of turkey and smears of whole grain mustard. The turkey has nice flavor. Whole dish has a hint of slight sour note. Same price as above

For dessert, I got the "dulce" crepe. The crepe is white in colour instead of brown and has very soft texture. A caramel sauce is poured on top of the crepe. Then a scoop of (dulce?) flavored ice cream and some whipped cream on top of the sauce. This is excellent. I would come here for the dessert crepes. Cost around $6-7

Parking was not easy even on Sunday afternoon. Suggest to go for the cheaper lot nearby.

This place is a refreshing change for us. We frequented too many chinese places and needed something different.
