I know it can be tourist trap central, but I would like FQ recommendations please

JohnnyCanuck | Nov 30, 201412:57 PM     26

Hello fellow foodies

I am staying a block east of the French Quarter. I'm a first time visitor and will also be dining alone.

There was a similar post very recently but all of the recommendations did not include the FQ or nearby area. And because I want within walking distance of my hotel, I would like recommendations within that area.

I am looking for reasonably priced lunch spots around 20 bucks, and moderately priced dinner spots in the forty to fifty dollar range. My expectations are - fairly good portions, a place where I will feel comfortable dining alone, and food that is simply honest and good. I'm not expecting outstanding food or a fine dining experience given my budget constraints.

I realize the FQ has some overpriced tourist traps - what popular city doesn't ? - but I can't help think there must be at least three or four spots in the FQ or otherwise close by that will satisfy my criteria and warrant a visit....thanks very much !
