Tortas El Primo (SF mission)

On chibi's recommendation we visited Tortas El Primo, a grocery and torteria, at 21st + Folsom.

Holly got a pollo milanesa (breaded chicken filet) torta and i got a chorizo and eggs torta.

They were both huge, delicious, and well-crafted sandwiches.

The chicken filet was tender and flavorful and blended with the fresh, creamy flavors of the sandwich fixin's most beautifully -- imagine tender breaded chicken squished amidst red onions, a pile of lettuce, mayo, queso fresco and creamy avocado, inside a big crunchy roll. Yeah!

The huevos y chorizo was kind of like an omelette sandwich -- they scramble the chorizo with eggs to order on one of their big sandwich presses. It too was really tasty, but the match with the rest of the sandwich's flavors wasn't as compelling as the chicken.

Not that I'm complaining! They were both magnificent tortas and really piqued our interest in deli-style tortas. I loved the crunchy-top bread and was pleased that they offer a choice of roll.

Each sandwich was $4.50 including tax.

Thanks to Chibi for spreading the news on this great find!
