Was in the Fashion district today and went into a little antojito restaurant on Olympic. I ordered a Torta Cubana, thinking it might be kind of like a Cuban sandwich -- very different! Ham, grilled split hot dogs, and what seemed like some kind of thin patty of breaded meat. Tomato, and chopped avocado.
It was pretty good, and the roll was good. But I was a little surprised by it. Is this a Mexican tradition? Why do they call it Cubana? Were the ingredients I got typical?
I also ordered a side of some cooked greens, probably spinach, because they looked so good -- and they were.
