so, on the topic of ribs...

I've given up. I've tried most of the rib places that are known around here (RD's, Baton Rouge, Phil's, Purple Pig) but yet have to find that elusive place that evokes that constant craving feeling in my innards. You know, that feeling you get after watching TWICE A Cook's Tour's episode of a BBQ ribs tour through Kansas City, Houston and North Carolina...

The RD's mango-jalapeno dip is great and Phil hits the spot when I crave beef ribs, but there is just no decent pork rib restaurant in town... juicy, meaty, flavourful, just greasy enough, with a sauce that sticks to the fingers, accompanied by perfect slaw / beans.

I can't wait for the annual ribfest, so I've started trying out some recipes on my own, including a Guinness marinated one. What other crazy (but good) kinds of marinates have others here used?

I'm also still open to good ribs suggestions, if there are any!
