Tokyo around the New Year Day

nycsi | Dec 5, 201410:40 AM

My wife and I will be in tokyo from Dec 31 to Jan 9 (with a couple of days in Kyoto on Jan 4-5). We got resi's at Omotesando Ukai-Tei, Jiro, Narisawa on Jan 6-8. Trying to find some places to go between Dec 31 - Jan 3, but of course all the recommended spots are closed for the New Year holidays. Molecular Tapas Bar is available on Jan 3, so may do that (i realize that there is nothing japanese about it, but i get a kick out of gimmicky food!). Any recommendations for other places that would be open between Dec 31 - Jan 3? We're ok with restaurants in hotels (since that's prob the only places open) as long as they have good food and ambiance (ie. not located in a busy lobby or some massive behemoth sushi+teppanyaki+french+burgers restaurant!)
