Yes yes yes! A new Korean restaurant has opened at Vallejo and Stockton called Tofu House. Right now I am eating a perfect Bibimbop, my financial district lunch (former) pipe dream--crisp fresh vegetables!
Here's what I got, for around $6:
1. a generous container of perfectly steamed sticky rice (is this officially sticky rice or just tasty sticky-ish Korean rice?)
2. Kimchi, Cucumber-chili relish thing, steamed broccoli, little pan-firend cold tofu triangles, carrots and that noodle-looking white Asian vegetable thing.
3. A big main container with a fried egg, a smallish protion of sweetish barbequed beef (delicious), dressed zucchini, bean sprouts, carrots, spinach and seaweed and that most-delicious-of-all-flavors Korean red chili sauce.
That's three containers of delight! Go now. Go quickly.
Also on the menu:
Jap-chae (noodles w/ veggies), Kalbi (beef short ribs), and five tofu stews that sound great.
One caveat--for takeout, you don't get the pleasure of mixing your bibimbop together in a big bowl. Alas.
Also, the atmosphere, though simple, is very nice. 708 Vallejo.
