If that sounds like a page out of Duffins Donuts, you guessed right.
Their bright red & yellow awning (and the word "sub") caught my attention as I drove through the Kingsway/Knight intersection. This shoebox sub shop has only been around for about 2-3 months. The owner lady, Nary, is super warm and friendly. She says she used to work at Tung Hing Bakery, then Duffins.
Menu is small (3 bahn mi, a dozen or so tortas, a few burgers, sandwiches and all-day brekkies). There's 5-6 tables so it's cozy but the room is well-lit and clean. She insisted I try a lemongrass bahn mi and I declined saying I'm on my way home for dinner, but after a few more insistence, I caved. She quickly went back to the kitchen to make it up for me, then insisted it's FREE. I got home quickly and took a few bites ..... the chicken was very lemongrass-y ('tho could have been grilled more), the pickled carrots/daikon crunchy and the bread still had enough crunch (btw, she makes the baguettes in-house). Damn good for $3.75, twice as good when free. I think she said her hours are 10am-8pm daily. I'm gonna be going back for a few more sammies.
