For the first time I will be going to a prix fixe dinner that is being arranged exclusively for my dinner partner and myself. My dining partner will be having wine pairing with his meal only. However, I realize that special efforts are being made to arrange this dinner for us.
My question is: should I simply leave a generous tip (25%+)and expect that will cover the services of the waitstaff AND the sommelier (who is also the general manager)? Or should there be a separate tip left for the sommelier/general manager? If so, how do I go about leaving the tips for the separate services?
Thanks very much for any advice you have. Up until this point, I've only been accustomed to sommelier tipping when ordering entire bottles of wine at the restaurant.
