At fine restaurants, I never know what to do about tipping the maitre d', sommelier, etc. I never have any cash (yes,I'm female) and want to do all my tipping on the credit card.
For instance, yesterday at lunch, I dined alone, and the maitre d' was very attentive, even procured an autograph from the chef for me. Even had I been possessed of some cash I don't know how much or how to present it. I left a massive tip on the credit card...will the waiter share? What about sommelier...if I tip 20% on the entire bill including wine, do they get a cut?
Thanks for help from the more experienced!
