A friend and I ate at the Downtown Palm last night, and with a couple of small exceptions, had a wonderful dinner.
We didn't realize that they served the lobster broiled by default, so that's how they came. Never the less, they were delicious. I would guess they were 3 pounders.
We split a NY steak, and it was very, very good as well.
It had been several years since I had eaten at the WeHo Palm, so I had forgotten some of the side dishes.
The 'cottage fries' were actually freshly fried potato chips, not what I expected.
The creamed spinach was extremely heavy and rich - too much so - and contained some type of cheese.
Mashed taters and fresh veggies probably would have gone better with the rich lobster.
The Ceasars were fine, and the dressing had good anchovy-ness.
The restaurant was at least half full ( at 8pm on a Sunday night ) the room was gorgeous, and the staff very attentive. There was no rush to finish our meal.
All in all, we very pleasurable meal, made even better by the savings.
( still not exactly a budget meal with an added steak, wine and bottled water though - $155 with tip )
