KATEYES2U | Aug 26, 201109:00 AM     14

Ms. D. wanted this recipe a while back and I have just now joined Chow Hound...Heres mine and its very good..

2 c. white sugar
1/2 c white sugar (for browning)
1 small can pet milk
1 stick of butter
1 tsp. vanilla
Heat milk and butter together until hot....(in a heavy boiler) add sugar...still contantly until dissolved.
In a med. black skillet...brown 1/2 cup of white sugar until it melts and becomes a golden brown liquid. As the other mixture has come to a rolling boil...add the browned liquid sugar. Stir well until all is mixed together,......continue stirring after this is added for 3 minutes. Take pan off the stove and let mixture cool slightly. Add 1 tsp. of vanilla...stir well. As icing starts to thicken...pour over a 9 x 13 yellow cake.(Mix just as good as from scratch...
