I guess this restaurant has been in Marin for quite a while but I never heard of it until I ran across this blog with pictures of the restaurant and food.
She had the Yuca salad ...
"It was a warm salad, which had slightly sauteed cabbage (red and green), carrots, chicken as a topping to some romaine, all topped by tender slices of yuca and a mild white cheese. It had a mild potato taste and texture. It came with generous amounts of black beans (very well flavored) and rice."
BTW, I like this particular blogger a lot and have gotten some good tips from her.
There was a recent positive mention of their pupusa's on Chowhound
This is slightly edited, for some reason search didn't initially turn up these reports from 2005 about the Tiburon location
Good small, casual Mexican/Salvadorean in Tiburon
" It's a smallish airy place with a front deck that has a large variety of Mexican and Salvadorean items, including Pupusas, Berenjejna, Sopa 7 Mares, and many other more familiar things."
Mexican/Salvadorian in Tiburon - great lunch today!
"Right away they brought the quite good chips with a very good salsa (medium hot and a sauce, not "salsa fresca") and what I'd call a pickled relish, mostly onions but quite a bit of other things. It was a great start"
I've read nothing but good things about them on the web. It seems that while pleasing the locals they hold onto their integrity. So there are mentions of good mole, salsas, tamale salvadoreno, enchilada Vallarta, etc ... but they also have some vegetarian and vegan items like the eggplant burrito mentioned in the first link.
They are also very, very kid-friendly ... by which I mean they cook to please kids and have high chairs, etc. ... not that it is some sort of kid zoo ... just family-friendly and pleasant.
So ... who has been ... and what do you recommend?
Anyone had that berenjejna ... which I'm guessing is this eggplant and tomato stew ...
