Tibetan Kitchen: Middletown

There was an open parking spot on Main St. next to Tibetan Kitchen this noon, so I thought, what the heck, let's eat yak! I'm told this used to be Little Tibet in another location, but moved into the old Iguanas Ranas spot a few months ago.

It has a small room, about 25 seats, sparsely decorated with posters of Tibetan feature films I never knew existed. No yak on the menu, but a goodly assortment of Vegetarian (lots of tofu) and Non-V dishes from soups to dumplings, sauteed beef and curries. I settled for a Chicken-Vegetable-Noodle stir fry, Gyathuk Ngopa, which despite not boasting a surfeit of chicken was quite tasty. It was not designated as spicy, but the server brought a small dish of peppery stuff which heated the dish up nicely, and kindly offered to refill it when he noticed I had used it all.

Their Chai Iced Tea was much nicer than the similar beverages I've had at Thai restaurants. I skipped their coconut delight dessert, and headed to Vecchito's to pick up some Chocolate-Almond Gelato (1 scoop of each!).

     Their website is at http://tibetankitchen.us/
