We had a great food experience at the So. Pas. Farmers Market last Thursday. We love farmers markets and would have to rank the S.P.F.M. right up there with the Santa Monica market. We noticed a group of student chefs from the local culinary institute checking out the organic produce & buying a fair share too. What I personally liked most about this market was that it was a true farmers market in every sense of the term. No crafts, no clothing vendors and no junk. Only fresh & prepared food. Among the food vendors that seemed to be doing a brisk business were Corn Maiden Gourmet Tamales, Robin's Woodfire BBQ & California Corn Roasters. We took home 5 different types of tamales with some potent sauce on the side. The woodfired tri-tip, grilled sausages & fresh lemonade at Robin's hit the spot and we still had room for some fresh popped kettle corn & hot peanuts. The juice vendor sells some excellent apple-cherry-orange juice & another sells some incredible blood oranges. I rec that your peel, squeeze & freeze the blood orange juice for enjoyment in the future. It's also a good addition to regular orange juice. There are organic lemons, fuji apples & shitake mushrooms and a whole array of great veggies. We just couldn't get enough of the whole experience. My props to the South Pasadena Farmers Market. Definately among THE BEST in L.A. & definately worth the trip.
