Thoughts on Amandine Bakery?

This bakery on the west side of Wilshire, near Bundy, opened several months ago. Have not yet seen it mentioned on this board so I wanted to throw my two cents in. I've been several times now and am ecstatic that this place is within walking distance to me.

On one end is a large display case full of fresh pastries (replenished hourly it seems). I've tried the macaroons, chocolate croissant, chocolate banana croissant, and pear and orange pastry with almond cream--happy to report that all were delectable.

Lunch choices are few, but very good. The tartine with bacon, gruyere and caramelized onions---yum. *Really* good, crusty bread. Chunky soups are homemade and brimming with surprises in a good way (olives and capers in chicken tomato soup!). Only disappointment was the side salad which was unimaginative with an only-ok mustard dressing. Still, I can't wait to see what they whip up for their upcoming breakfast menu.

There's also a large assortment of desserts. So far, have only tried the flourless chocolate cake -- wonderfully bittersweet,good chocolate used.

Staff has always been friendly, but service can be slow. There's no clear order line, so people mill about until someone asks if they need help. Also, staff is multilingual. Have heard several different languages being spoken behind the counter as well as over it to customers.

Has anyone else been? Any recs on what to get? I get overwhelmed by all the choices because everything looks so good!
