Thai Rama -- Phoenix

I stopped by Thai Rama for lunch today at Camelback and 12th Avenue.

We arrived at 12:30 and were seated quickly, the restaurant was only half full. By 1:00 p.m. every table was full and there was a wait. Everyone must've been taking a late lunch.

We decided to go with the lunch special. There are 9 or 10 lunch specials, all for $5.25 including hot tea, entree with white rice, two wontons, soup, and an egg roll.

We ordered a full size of Tom Kha Kai and the #7 to share. The #7 was spicy beef with green beans, I don't remember the thai name.

The soup that came with the combo was pretty lame. Basically ramen in chicken broth. Nothing to write home about, but it was super hot. The tea was piping hot and yummy too.

Then the tom kha kai arrived. I prefer tom yum, but bf choose this. It was good. Very flavorful and good balance of lemongrass, coconut milk and ginger. Tons of chicken in the soup. More chicken than mushrooms actually.

The beef and green beans were good. The beef was tender and the green beans were fresh. Sauce was spicey and flavorful. The eggroll and wontons were nice too.

A great deal for $5.25!

I'd have to go back a couple of times as I didn't have any curry, which is the true test. Overall, pretty good, not quite as good as Thai Lhana, but close.
