Elisha, caught your post too late. No web for a few weeks - a break.
Thai markets - people recommended the Silom market next to Palms and the Bangluck Market next to Sam'sLung Noodle. Be aware - radical difference in produce and fish. Bangluck is, in general, way better. Specially the fish. My mama the great fish buyer taught me - always peek under the gill flap at the gill color. Vibrant red means very fresh, pink means pretty fresh, pale means OK, brown and black mean bad. Bangluck: sometims frozen fish, sometims pale, sometimes pink, sometimes red. You can almost always find some decent fish somewhere in that market. Silom market: all brown and black, some clearly rotting gills. You can smell those fish from outside - shouldn't even have to look. Ick.
