Thai Crispy Rice Hits the South Bay: Bowl Thai in Gardena!

young_chower | Jan 8, 201512:06 PM

I went to Bowl Thai last night in Gardena in the packed Todai Plaza and noticed they had the Crispy Rice dish (with ginger, sausage, etc) on their specials board. I ordered it and thought it was fairly tasty, although not in the same league as Can-Coon in Bellflower or some places in Thai Town. Nevertheless, it was a welcome relief from the very mediocre, not very complex Thai food that we South Bay locals have to settle on when eating South Bay Thai.

Everything else on the menu was a notch above your typical South Bay Thai place, although still not nearly as interesting as Thai Town spots. I wouldn't drive more than 15-20 minutes to eat there, but if you are in the area and are also tired of the Thai Dishes in Manhattan Beach, then I think it's worth checking out.

P.S. The lady at the counter said they can always make the crispy if you just ask, whether it's on the specials board or not. She also said that the owners are Thai-Chinese.
