COFFEE POT
Since we were headed out on the swamp tour, we needed to do breakfast instead of lunch. Service was good. Food was okay. Tried calas which was kind of fun.

MURIELS
We knew we'd come in tired so we decided to return to Muriel's. I did the $29.95 prix fixe. Really good. Since I'd already tried the crepes, I got the beet salad for an appetizer. Pecan crusted baby drum for the main. Creme brulee for dessert. All very good. DH had some kind of salad and fish of the day. He was happy with his, but mine was better. Same nice atmosphere and good service.

COMMANDERS PALACE
Drum Roll please! Best over-all dining experience. We were celebrating DH's 70th birthday. Commanders rolled out the red carpet, and made him feel special. I had the three soup thing for an appetizer. The best soup in this world. Turtle soup, gumbo, and cauliflower with brie. Exquisite. Then the crawfish streudel. Beautiful presentation and very tasty. We REALLY went over the top with THREE desserts. Bread pudding souffle, strawberry shortcake, AND bananas foster. Ate it all. Needless to say, we didn't eat supper. Well, mixed nuts and peanut butter crackers with drinks in the Place d'Armes courtyard.

JOHNNY'S PO-BOYS
Roast beef po-boys the way they ought to be made. At least ten napkin deals. Very good.

CASAMENTO
Also a repeat from our last trip. The oyster stew was the star of the evening. Oyster loaf and soft shelled crab also hit the spot. The cat between the kitchen and the restrooms wasn't the same one we'd seen before. However, we did learn that the cats survived the storm. The building didn't flood, and they had plenty of food and water.

CLOVER GRILL
We enjoyed the morning stroll up St. Ann's and down Bourbon Street. They were actually SCRUBBING the sidewalks on Bourbon Street. We were impressed. Nice breakfast. I particularly enjoyed the pork chop.

THE END until next time
