in an article in the trib about chinese new year's events they mentioned the following event
THE VIETNAMESE ASSOCIATION OF ILLINOIS NEW YEAR PARTY, noon 2/16, Armory Hall, 5917 N. Broadway. The event will include a traditional ceremony presided over by the senior members of the Vietnamese community followed by traditional Vietnamese performances, food sampling and games. The daytime event is free. There will be a $25 charge for a dance party in the evening, with live music by The Trance Band and other popular Vietnamese singers from California. 773-728-3700.
My question has anyone been to one of these (more interested in the food than in the trance band) in the past and if so do you know if its an outsider friendly situation and what sort of food is on hand?
